These are the award minimums for cinema workers. Event Cinemas advertises new crew at Cinema Worker Level 1 ($28.56 an hour, $35.70 casual). It may pay more; it cannot pay less.
Juniors under 21 are paid a percentage of the Level 4 rate rather than Level 1, so the junior table below uses Level 4 as its base.
Which award sets Event Cinemas pay
Event Cinemas cinema staff are paid under the Broadcasting, Recorded Entertainment and Cinemas Award 2020 (MA000091). Event Cinemas advertises its crew roles under this award ("Cinema Worker Level 1 BREC Award"), and we found no Event Cinemas or EVT enterprise agreement on the Fair Work Commission's lists of agreements approved since 2016. Cinema employers are not covered by the Hospitality or Restaurant awards, so Gold Class food and bar staff are on this award too.

What this page does not show
We publish only what we could read from a primary source. Left off rather than estimated:
- Agreements approved before 2016 were not checked; none for Event Cinemas was found on the terminated-agreements list.
- The legal name of the EVT company that employs cinema staff.
- Whether Event Cinemas pays above the award for any role.

How this page is sourced▼
Every rate on this page was read from the Broadcasting, Recorded Entertainment and Cinemas Award 2020 (MA000091) and the Fair Work Ombudsman pay guide on 24 September 2026. Nothing is estimated or averaged. Junior dollar figures the instrument does not print are calculated from its own percentages and labelled as such.
Rates change on dates written into the award (usually 1 July each year), and a new agreement can replace this one. Re-check against your payslip and the instrument itself; the Fair Work Ombudsman (13 13 94) can confirm what applies to you.
