The salaries shown are QPS's published CPI-uplifted rates, which are higher than the tables printed in Schedule 1 of the certified agreement because the 1 July 2025 rise became 3.5% instead of 3% and the 1 July 2026 rise compounds on it. QPS says back payments began in the pay fortnight of 24 June 2026 with all adjustments expected to be finished by 5 August 2026.
QPS Recruiting's "What we offer" page still quotes a First Year Constable base of $78,124, the pre-uplift Schedule 1 figure. The uplifted rate from 1 July 2026 is $78,505.
The certified agreement runs to a nominal expiry date of 30 June 2028.

Every salary links to its take-home figure. Take-home pages exist for every $1,000 up to $150,000 and in wider steps above that, so a salary without a page of its own links to the nearest one.
Recruit and trainee police pay
QPS Recruiting says mainstream recruits are paid 70% of a First Year Constable base salary (as outlined in the QPS Certified Agreement), plus a recruit training allowance of $183 a fortnight, which it says takes training pay to approximately $60,000 a year.
Recruits with previous policing experience may be paid at a higher pay point from their first day at the academy, according to QPS Recruiting.
Shift penalties, loadings and allowances
Base salary is not the whole of it: police officers on rotating rosters are paid extra for shift work. In summary, from the Queensland Police Service Certified Agreement 2025:
- Operational Shift Allowance (clause 43): 21% of base salary for officers in operational shift positions who equitably take part in shift rosters. It is paid in lieu of shift and weekend penalties, public holiday rates and annual leave loading.
- Night Operational Shift Allowance (clause 39): an extra 20% of base rate for each shift starting between 6pm and 2am, paid on top of the Operational Shift Allowance.
Check the instrument for the exact conditions that apply to your roster. Overtime is worked out separately — the overtime pay calculator handles time and a half and double time.
What a QLD police officer salary is worth after tax
Every salary in the tables links to its take-home figure. Start with take-home pay on $79,000 for the entry rate or take-home pay on $118,000 for the top of the scale. Those figures cover base salary only; shift penalties and allowances are taxed as ordinary income on top.
Employer superannuation is paid on top of these salaries. For your own pay including penalties, a study loan or salary packaging, use the take-home pay calculator or the QLD pay calculator.
What this page does not show
We publish only what we could read from a primary source. These are left off rather than estimated:
- The recruit rate is described by QPS as a percentage of the First Year Constable salary; no dollar rate for recruits is printed in the agreement's Schedule 1, so none is shown here.
- Inspector and above, and Police Liaison Officers and other support classifications, are not reproduced here.

How this page is sourced▼
Every salary on this page was read from the Queensland Police Service Certified Agreement 2025 or Queensland Police Service’s own published pay table on 24 September 2026, and applies from 1 July 2026. Nothing is estimated, averaged or interpolated. Where the instrument publishes a weekly or fortnightly rate, the annual figure is that rate multiplied out and the published rate is shown in the notes column.
Take-home figures come from the site’s own calculator using ATO rates for the current income year.
